By now you've probably heard the shocking news of the dreadful tragedy that took place last weekend at the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium. Many were there and witnessed the horror. Four people died and many more were severely injured after an intense storm swept through my favourite festival ground, which unexpectedly made a tragic end to what should have been a weekend filled with fun and musical awesomeness. When I woke up with the horrible news here in Australia, on friday morning, I was utterly shocked because it was only the other night that I went to bed thinking about how much I was missing out on by not being there. I had fallen asleep with many great Pukkelpop flashbacks from the past few years.. I'm still speechless seeing the images and I still can't believe what happened there.. It has been a sad occurrence, almost impossible to predict, in which nobody can be blamed. My thoughts are with the victims, their families & friends. I hope we can honour them with a continuance of PP in 2012.

Pukkelpop 2011 // A Memorial...

The Subs // My Punk (video)
While shooting this video for My Punk, The Subs got arrested and had to spend several hours in prison. The concept of the video was to drive with 3 mopeds from their home city Ghent to the famous Social Club in Paris while filming each other with 3 camera's. At a certain point they decided to drive into a shopping mall. Security and French cops didn't agree with this and arrested them. A few hours later they were released, continued their journey and finally made it to the Social Club.

The Subs // Music Is The New Religion (video)
"I am excited, about the house of God".. and about this simple yet effective video of The Subs' latest one: Music Is The New Religion.
The Subs is a collection of Belgian, multi-talented and crazy people. The group consists of Jeroen De Pessemier aka Papillon (singer/producer), Wiebe Loccufier aka Tonic (half of dj-duo Starski & Tonic) and Stefan Bracke aka l'entrepreneur (member of the raverockband Foxylane). Until now, most of their releases were great underground hits. You definitely know them from You Make Me Spill, Fuck That Shit, Papillon, Substracktion and/or Kiss My Trance, which started as a joke but became a huge hit, not only on the radio, but also in the charts and on a lot of dancefloors. Most of these and other tracks were put together on The Subs' debut album Subculture, available online and in record stores now.
A few weeks ago the makers of the StuBru-program Volt visited The Subs at their Studio in Gent, with some 12 minutes of crazy radio as a result. The show is definitely worth listening to:
