Celebrating NY, celebrating NY again, writing some papers for school and studying exams has kept me from writing new posts here the last few days. To make that up I'm offering you three excellent NY-mixes I've picked up recently:

Without a doubt,
Sound of Stereo was the Belgian electronic revelation of 2008. Their debut EP
Nic Nag was an instant success which was picked up by lots of international dj's. Subsequent hits like
Supah Dupah,
Evil Panda and
Parrot Attack hit the world like an electronic bomb. Most of them were played the past months by the Crookers, The Bloody Beetroots and many more. The 2 guys themselves played all over Belgium. They even did gigs in Portugal and Italy. Certainly look out for their release of
Heads Up! by the end of february. It's marvellous!.. & already my favorite for 2009!

Jack Beats were in the line up of the Fabric NYE party. Specially for this occasion they made this short but powerfull 30-minutes mix. You probably know Jack Beats from their AC Slater's
Jack got Jacked remix (which you will also find in the mix), or that other remix hit they've made of Project Bassline's
Drop the Pressure. JB is a collaboration between UK-based
Plus One and
Beni G. They are the newest duo on Hervé's
"Cheep Thrills"-label. I bet
Jack Beats is a name that will appear in a lot of sets and charts in the months to come. Based on this mix, I expect them to do a lot of great gigs too.

Jesse Rose had the honor to bring the 1st Essential Mix of 2009 on BBC Radio 1. This UK-born but now Berlin based dj/producer is conquering Europe in a fast pace. Unlike several producers I write about on this blog who just got started, this man is in the electronic music business for more than a decade. He started producing and playing records 14 years ago. He has a reputation of bringing solid sets. The past few years, he has been involved in a lot of record labels. He also made a lot of productions himself. His latest project is the
Made To Play-label, which he runs and which releases new stuff from himself, Tevor Loveys and Sinden, to name just a few.
