After 4 years on the label, DFA star Marcus Lambkin aka Shit Robot released his debut album From The Cradle To The Rave, a marvellous collection of some of his finest tracks. The album comes with voice contributions of Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Nancy Whang (LCD Soundsystem) and Juan Maclean, just to name a few. Shit Robot probably is one of the less known artists on DFA Records, amongst for example LCD Soundsystem, Holy Ghost! & Hot Chip. That however doesn't reflect the quality of his dj-skills, which he proves once again with this great mix. Marcus Lambkin began djing in 1992 after moving from Dublin to New York, where he obtained some residencies. He met fellow Irishman Dominique Keegan and opened Plant Bar, which allegedly was one of the coolest and loudest bars in NYC. Here he & James Murphy from DFA started the Shit Robot parties, a name which he later adopted as his dj name. Marcus now lives in Germany and still produces great records, like his latest Simple Things, which is also included in the following mixtape.
