A1 Bassline // new remixes
UK based producer/remixer/dj A1 Bassline aka Christan Sibthorpe dropped some excellent new remixes of Frank Musik's Better Off As 2 and Little Boots' New Town Girl. He has also been working hard on remixes for among others The Virgins and Buraka Som Sistema and some new productions of his own. He has been touring a lot and is playing on several places in Europe in the next couple of months. Check his myspace for exact dates and locations.
Little Boots // BBC sound of 2009
According to BBC, Little Boots - aka Victoria Hesketh - is the most promising sound for this year. The 24-year-old singer has been tipped by a majority of people from the British music industry. Second place on the list goes to White Lies, which is followed by Florence and the Machine.
The election is held by the British Broadcasting Corporation at the beginning of each new year. 130 leading British music writers, editors and broadcasters are then asked about their opinion, their top 3 of most promising music talents for the year to come. The results are mostly very accurate. Last year for example Adele was on top of the list, followed by artists such as The Ting Tings, Foals, MGMT, Duffy and Santogold. The year before Mika came out of it on the 1st place, followed by Klaxons, Enter Shikari, Cold War Kids and Air Traffic.
Victoria Hesketh started her solo career as Little Boots only a few months ago, after she left Dead Disco. For her new project she works together with Hot Chip's Joe Goddard. The music she brings is a fresh combination of electro-pop and disco house, based on the music of Kylie Minoque, David Bowie and Gary Numan.
Victoria plays this weird Japanese sequencer, which goes by the name tenorion. With this flashy thing she instantly creates these spacy sounds, which really sound great combined to the music she plays on her piano and her charming voice. Definitely check this out, but watch out, it might get stuck on repeat.. ;).
